PNG Speaker directs opposition

PNG Speaker Job Pomat

PAPUA New Guinea Speaker, Job Pomat, has directed the Opposition to hold a caucus meeting to address its leadership issues.

He told the Opposition MPs to resolve their infighting and inform him once they had appointed a leader.

Pomat said 10 MPs had written to him indicating they wanted Chuave MP James Nomane as Opposition Leader.

“I said that I would only recognise a change when a duly convened Opposition caucus meeting can confirm clearly an official minute of proceedings or a letter is returned from all members of the Opposition who they wish to appoint as leader,” Pomat said.
