Fiji’s Cabinet has approved the National Security Strategy (NSS) 2025–2029 which will address the country’s evolving security threats and guide future government action.
The strategy was developed following recommendations from the National Security and Defence Review (NSDR) and four main purposes: defining national security priorities, guiding policy and decision-making, promoting inter-agency coordination, and strengthening civil-military relations.
According to Cabinet, the strategy will “define Fiji’s national security priorities by articulating Fiji’s national security objectives and identify priority threats and challenges.”
It will also “guide government policy and decision making by setting policy direction allowing resources and efforts to be directed to national security priorities.”
