Pacific previews for the 2019 Rugby World Cup

THE Land of the Rising Sun is expecting magic as it hosts its first ever Rugby World Cup in less than four months’ time. It’s Japan’s first time to host rugby’s most important event, and the Pacific will be well represented. The Pasifika rugby warriors are like salt, always bringing flavour and excitement to the field.

While Fiji is well known for its skills at the sevens version of the game—most recently taking out the 2019 World Series championship with a victory in Paris—they are also looking good for Japan.

Fiji has had some success in past World Cups, reaching the quarter finals stages twice. In 2007 they knocked out Wales in the pool games and gave South Africa a fright in the Cup quarters.
