POLLING started late at one of the biggest polling stations just outside the city, International Secondary School which registered 2225 voters in the last elections.
Despite that hundreds of voters turned up as early as 6am from the Nasinu suburb of Laucala Beach, a mixed white and blue collar neighbourhood.
A largely Fiji First power base, the area polled 45.31% for Frank Bainimarama in 2014 but today voters were mum on their choice, save for one Dr. Mahendra Reddy.
“Im hoping for the values that [we] stand for; good governance, development, modernisation of Fiji, a vision for a peace and stable and prosperous Fijian society where everyone has equal opportunity to grow, develop and do well,” the outgoing Minister for Waterways said.
Dr. Reddy admitted being made to wait in the rain for two hours wasnt ideal but said the voting process was smooth and fast as soon as the private school security guards opened its gates for the voters.
Polling continues till 6pm.
