More Papua Students Protest

By Netani Rika

PAPUAN students have staged a sit down protest after they were racially abused today.

Riot police from the Mobile Brigade have cordoned off the main road in front of the university at Abepura.

Students staged the protest, claiming a lecturer had called Papuans monkeys.

This is the latest in a month of protests in the territory claimed by Indonesia in 1969.

Papua descended into violence and protests last month and more than 30 people have been killed.
