Fiji assists with burial of Pastor and son

THE Fijian Government has assisted the Suva-based Christian Mission Fellowship in the burial of their missionary and his son on Friday this week in Kenya, Africa.

The church confirmed in a statement today that Pastor Sakaraia Mataka and his 15-year-old son, Paula Tekei Mataka, will be buried in a plot of land in the town of Kitale. in northwest Kenya, some 324km by road from the capital, Nairobi.

 The pastor and son were killed in a plane crash last week.

The President and Founder of Christian Mission Fellowship International, Revered Suliasi Kurulo thanked Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimaram and the government of Fiji for purchasing the block of land in Kitale,  where Pastor Mataka and his son Paula would be laid to rest.

Their caskets will be transported by road to Kitale from Nairobi tomorrow (Thursday)  morning accompanied by church Pastors and Bishops.

The Head of the Fiji Mission in Ethiopia, Ambassador Mosese Tikoitoga and Mrs Tikoitoga accompanied by the First Secretary, will also be attending the funeral.

There has also been support received from Fiji nationals in Africa and those serving in the British Army in Kenya.

Delegations from Fiji and around the world are arriving into Nairobi for the funeral this Friday including Pastor Mataka’s two sisters Mrs Unaisi Snow and Mrs Sainiana Susu.

The church says the funeral service for Pastor Mataka and Paula will be streamed live on Friday.
